Teeccino Herbal Coffee Review – for the coffee lover who needs a break from caffeine!
When I turned 40, I noticed that I was no longer able to enjoy coffee without unpleasant side effects. I love the smell and taste of coffee, but if I drank more than one small cup, I would have heart palpitations and even hot flashes. Caffeine also raises my anxiety levels. I have heard many women who experienced similar issues with coffee at a “certain age”.
I had enjoyed Teeccino Herbal Coffee before, so I decided to buy a pack recently. Here is my review.
Teeccino Herbal Coffee – what is it?
Teeccino is an herbal coffee substitute and is naturally caffeine free. It’s made from roasted chicory (which is actually an old Southern coffee substitute, it’s still popular in New Orleans and an ingredient in the world-famous Cafe du Monde coffee). Chicory contains inulin, which is a fiber that is good for the digestion and elimination. Inulin is a pre-biotic, which helps feed good bacteria in the gut.
Some of the flavors also contain ground almonds, dates, roasted carob and orange peel. Oddly enough, you don’t taste the almonds, orange peel or dates at all in the finished product.
Teeccino Herbal Coffee Review
I find Teeccino absolutely delicious. I love the dark French Roast. To me, it’s the one that tastes the most like coffee. (The other varieties are a bit weaker, but that may be what you prefer.) Teeccino was previously available as a ground product (just like coffee), and you would brew it in your coffee pot just like you would with coffee.
Now, however, Teeccino is also sold in tea bags so you can easily brew it on the go. I took a box with me last week while I was vacationing (see my post about how to stay on plan with TrimHealthyMama on vacation). It was super convenient to enjoy a delicious hot, THM-safe beverage with no sugar that wouldn’t keep me up at night, make my heart beat too fast or cause hot flashes! Even our beloved Oolong tea can cause these symptoms in some sensitive THM mamas.
I have tried other coffee substitutes in the past, but Teeccino is by far my favorite. It comes with flavors such as vanilla and hazelnut if you’re into that. And Teeccino is gluten free.
If you’re trying to reduce caffeine consumption, you could brew it half-and-half with regular coffee beans in your coffeemaker. Or, just enjoy a cup of Teeccino in the afternoon for a pick-me-up. It’s full of antioxidants, good fiber and potassium, and is non-acidic. You can read more about the health benefits of Teeccino here on their site.
Teeccino would be great for pregnant or nursing moms who are trying to reduce their caffeine consumption but who like a nice hot cup of comfort in the mornings. And you could absolutely use Teeccino to make your THM Trimmy drinks!
A reader named Dave sent his review of Teeccino Herbal Coffee:
Teeccino Herbal Coffee of a really great coffee alternative. Teeccino has no caffeine and is all natural. Teeccino Herbal Coffees offer many great flavors and brews in the coffee maker just like regular coffee.
I used to drink a lot of coffee at work and at home. I felt like it was causing my body some problems, such as heart problems, etc. My wife mentioned Teeccino to me and I gave it a try.
This coffee has a really great scent and tastes very smooth and delicious. There are a bunch of different flavors, ranging from what tastes just like a plain old cup of coffee, to Chocolate Mint, Hazelnut, and (my favorite) Vanilla Nut. They even have organic varieties.
I have a teenage son that likes to drink coffee, but we really didn’t want to get him hooked on caffeine. With Teeccino he can now drink “coffee” with us all the time and we don’t have to worry about the health risks.
Have you ever tried Teeccino or other coffee substitutes? What’s your favorite?
