What I Ate Last Week on Trim Healthy Mama Plan – and a weight loss update!

Since I began eating a la Trim Healthy Mama™, I’ve been keeping a food diary. I highly recommend this practice. I’ll also be sharing it here every week. Hopefully it will help people new to THM see that you can eat whatever you love, and you don’t need to feel deprived.

I’ve been on a weight loss plateau for a month now. I’m not complaining, because I’m happy with my weight at the moment, but I’m still not at goal weight. I figured the scale probably wouldn’t move until I weaned my baby (my typical pattern is that I hold on to 5 pounds while breastfeeding).

However, the scale dropped a pound this week! I was surprised, because I’ve been doing a lot of snacking lately – as you can see, some days I nibbled 5-6 times a day, and a couple of days this week I felt really HUNGRY.

I’ve noticed a pattern however. It seems that my metabolism sends the “EAT MORE” signal when it’s picking up, and then the scale drops a bit, and my appetite levels out. So now, instead of dreading those hungry signals, I’m realizing what they mean: that my metabolism is kicked into high gear. The interesting thing to me is that I really haven’t exercised at all in almost 3 weeks. My kids were all very sick for over a week, and I was busy (and not sleeping, and therefore very tired) taking care of them, so I didn’t take the time to exercise.

Trim Healthy Mama makes the scale move even without exercise, which is wonderful. I have read over and over that once a person hits “a certain age”, that exercise alone is NOT ENOUGH to facilitate weight loss, that diet changes MUST happen. And it certainly seems to be true.

Notes: The lemon coconut truffles from the Trim Healthy Mama cookbook were out of this world delicious. So refreshing, straight out of the freezer.

French toast in a bowl is my current breakfast obsession. I absolutely love it. I make it a bit differently than the recipe in the cookbook. I omit the butter from the recipe and add about 1/2 cup berries (frozen or fresh). This adds extra moisture to the “bread”. Then, after microwaving, I add the T of butter so it gets all melty and delicious (just as you would add butter to real French toast!). It tastes amazing this way with a couple of spoons of peanut butter and stevia-sweetened pancake syrup.
